I was talking to my
friend recently about what makes a person happy in life and here comes Chuck Wendig with his
awesome blog Terribleminds posting about 25 Ways to Be a Happy Writer (Or At
Least Happier).
I'm sharing his post. Go over and see if any
of the twenty five things he suggests resonates with you, and if they do apply
them and make yourself happy, or at least happier, with your writing.
My favorite
(if I was forced to choose one at
gunpoint) is:
21.
MAKE NO EXCUSES
We tell excuses to other
people as if they’re reasons, but we know the truth: it’s just some
nonsense we say to absolve ourselves of the sin of not doing the shit we were
supposed to do. Every excuse uttered is another squirrel nibble out of our
happiness. Soon your excuses amount to a whole swarm of squirrels. They’ll make
short bitey work of your self-worth.
I like #21 too but I also love the one about not worrying about Amazon numbers, blog clicks, etc. I've fallen into that trap and I liked it better when I had no idea all that even existed.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. I had decided to let those things go even before I read Chuck's post.
DeleteGreat share Nana and Debbie I agree absolutely. I'm far happier when I just write along in my own little world and stop comparing myself to everyone else. Hard, for sure. But far more productive
ReplyDeleteThank's Mona. For writers the writing should be the bottom line shouldn't it?
