For
the second year in a row I've decided to be part of the A to Z blogging challenge started by Arlee Bird. 26
posts representing each letter of the alphabet for the month of April. It'll be a
challenge (hence the name), but it’s going to be great.
Last
year I was a fly by the seat of my pants blogger for the challenge. This year I
have a theme. I’m calling it “All Things Africa.” In honor of my book, Midwife to Destiny, published by Decadent Publishing under the Ubuntu line. It's set in Ghana
and South Africa.
I’ll
be giving you lovely little snippets about Africa and the wonderful things and
people that come from here. With 54 recognized countries on the continent,
you’d think I’d be able to describe a country per day, but nope. Some of the
letters of the alphabet are not represented. I’ll be getting creative with
these days.
I warn you that pictures I'll show will represent the greatness of Africa by way of infrastructure and environment. I'd like to make you aware not that not all areas are as nice as you see in the pictures, but I'm trying to put our best foot forward.
I hope you'll enjoy joining me and learning a little about the world's second largest continent. Just like the Ubuntu line of Decadent Publishing, I look forward to showing you some of the real Africa.

Ghanaian
nurse Aurora ‘Ora’ Aikins never expected to find the love of her life while on
vacation in South Africa. Engaged to another and believing that love has no
place in her life, she returns to Ghana, and puts duty and honor first.
Three
years later, Dr. Jason Lartey still can’t get Ora out of his mind or his heart.
After learning she never married, he takes a risk and moves to Ghana hoping to
rekindle what they started. His sudden appearance in Ora’s Emergency Department
sends sparks flying all over again.
They’re
in the same country, working in the same hospital, and together but distance
creeps between them. Can they make their destined love one for the ages?

Great Theme, Nana!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy. I thought it was brilliant when it popped into my head.
DeleteI'm really looking forward to this. I've always enjoyed your posts about Ghana and know I will learn a lot with these posts as well. It's always interesting to see places I've never been and only know about through the media.
ReplyDeleteYou were my number one fan for those posts, Julie. You read every one and I thought it was so cool. I hope you enjoy Africa.
DeleteI think this will so fascinating! Really awesome choice for your theme, Nana! Woot!
ReplyDeleteThanks, S.K. I'm looking forward to showing off my land.
DeleteNever been to Africa either. Very educational theme! Looking forward to the posts you come up with for A-Z.
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful continent (despite what the media has to say about it).
DeleteSounds interesting - I loved Kenya when we visited there and I want to take the kids when they are older. Looking forward to discovering more of Africa through your theme.
ReplyDeleteI've heard nothing but good things about Kenya (until recently). I'd love to visit there one day.
DeleteI love it! I recently spent some serious time and effort catching up on my geography and now I can proudly say I can place all the countries of Africa on the map. As a storyteller I usually learn through stories, so I am also actively hunting down tales from different cultures in Africa. I like this theme :) Also, your book sounds fascinating! Happy A to Z!
ReplyDeleteYou are one up on me. I couldn't place all of the countries if it were my job, but at least now I've heard of them all.
DeleteGreat things to celebrate, Nana! I'm glad you're happy with who you are and where you are. That's something to celebrate in itself. Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Deanie. It's a fantastic feeling.
DeleteAmazing! This is a great theme for the challenge and I'm really looking forward to reading it! So much of the information and media we absorb every day is Euro and Western centric that it'll be a real treat to read the cultures, geography and history of the countries of Africa. Thanks!

You sound almost as excited as I am, Nicky. I like it.
DeleteGreat theme! Hope you have fun with the A-to-Z challenge this year! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Heather. My posts are prepped and ready to go. It's going to be a great month.
DeleteFascinating! Can't wait to read your posts :-)
