Why I like to KISS It!

Unlike my other posts about kissing this one isn’t about the lip smacking variety. KISS is an acronym for Keep It Short and Simple or when you don’t want to be nice, Keep It Simple Stupid.

Just in case you haven’t noticed, my posts aren’t very long. It’s not because I don’t have a lot to say, but because I’d like to keep the reader's attention throughout the post. How many times have you gone to a blog post and had to scroll and scroll down the page before you got to the end? How many times have you read through those long blog posts? Hmmmm.

Social media expert, Kristen Lamb, advises that a blog post should be less than 500 words. This word count gives the reader enough information without making their eyes cross with too much reading. I’m a direct and to the point person so KISSing comes easy for me (for most posts).

Mwah.

Do you like your blog posts on the longer or the shorter side?

  1. it makes sense, totally, to keep it as short as possible. Who has time to read or even write one of those long winded posts? In the words of fellow Welshy... I just want your extra time and your KISS.

  2. Normally I write long posts but of recent I've been making more effort to shorten them. Still working on it as I understand that not everyone likes to read long articles.

    1. It's the time factor, Ayibu. If there were more time in the day I would love to read longer posts.

  4. I agree that shorter, as far as blog posts goes, is better --but I'm also guilty of long windedness, both verbal and written, as anyone who knows me will attest. I don't mind a good, long book as long as it's a 5-star.

    1. Ah, but you won't know it's a five star until after you have read it. And if the book is gigantic and not a five star then...

  5. I tend to write long reviews and I'm trying hard to keep them KISS. My poems are short and to the point though. Incidentally I have a poem on my bog titled KISS

  6. I have been looking forward to this post. I believe posts should be as short as possible. No time, and computer screens I must confess aren't healhy for the eyes. You are spot-on Nana, post must be short in order to attract readers. I concur. I try to KISS or rather I KISS.

    1. Thanks Mary. Your posts are short and to the point, between that and your great content, it keeps me heading back to your blog every time.
