H is for Hairy Men

H is for Hairy Men

This A to Z challenge has me writing about men in a way that I’m loving.

Imagine reading this line in a romance novel:

Her fingers became tangled in the thickness of his hair as she ran her hand over his heavily muscled back.

Yeah you read that correctly, back hair. Of all the years of reading a romance novel I have never, I mean ever, read of a hero with back hair. It’s not sexy, not even in the least.

Note that there is a condition where people grow excessive hair all over their body, called hypertrichosis, but I’m not talking about them. (Remember the movie Fur with Robert Downey Jr. and Nicole Kidman?)

Chest hair on a man can be sexy for some women, but for me I like the hero to be described with a muscular bare chest or with a few chest hairs. Ever notice that most topless male models have no chest hairs on their glistening, well defined, delicious, want to rub your hands all over… um sorry about that.

You get my drift. A hairy man is not sexy, at least not to me. And a super hairy man is well… do I need to go there.

Okay, so this is not too bad.

    1. Oh poor hairy men. They just have to invest in some good electolysis.

  3. I feel sorry for hairy men. But nowadays there are methods to get rid of it. Just like us women go through making ourselves slink and smooth. I agree with Nana some chest hair is nice.

    1. Can you imagine the pain of having your back waxed?

  4. Back in the 60s and 70s, a hairy chest was equated with virility. Times have changed for sure, though.

Thanks for dropping by and commenting on my blog...I appreciate it :)

  5. Hi Nana, I may have to disagree just a bit. Remember Magnum PI, the Burt Reynolds spread in COSMO, and one of my favorite crooners, Tom Jones. I found some great pictures of them, hairy chest and legs and they looked like a man was supposed to look. I couldn't post them in the comment section.

I like the look of a smooth chest, as well, but I don't want men waxing their legs and I especially like the a little hair from their belly button down..... :)

    1. I can't get on board with you with this one Debbie. A little chest hair is fine, a feathering if you will. But a mat of it? Hmmmm. But I do agree that hair from the belly button down is totally and utterly acceptable.

  6. I think it might be a generational thing. Those of us who remember the '70s (ahem, DebbieC) appreciate a man with a perfectly hairy chest. I'll show my friend Noni pictures of some of the young men who turn up on my FB stream and she'll be all "Ick, he's all shiny."

    1. LOL, Liv. I spent all my teenage years in the 70's so I remember - most of it anyway (wink)

    2. That's what the guy Mark commented too. Being hairy was popular in the 60's and 70's. 2013 likes them sleek.

  8. Too many people are pulling too much of their hair out! It's not easy to be 'slink and smooth',as Cathrina says above: it grows back too soon. Not attracted by woolly men though, but also not looking for shiny chests...
