Multitasking: Celebrate and Meet the Character

Okay, to say that I'm super busy and exhausted is an understatement, but never to tired to celebrate.

It's all about life. Living it. Making fun of it. And sometimes giving it the finger.

Meet the Character - Sarita Cerez
I was tagged by the wonderful Inge Saunders to participate in this blog hop. A little about Inge and her book:

First time author Inge Saunders fell in love with books when she started reading romance novels with her grandmother. Intrigued by the worlds books unlocked, it was inevitable she would take pen to paper.

She`s forms part of Romance writers` Organization of South Africa (ROSA) and currently has two books under contract with Decadent Publishing, Falling for Mr. Unexpected (set to be released at the end of September 2014) and Dance of Love ( due later in 2014).

The Blurb
Can Emma fall for Mr. Unexpected when she doesn’t believe in Mr. Right or even Mr. Right Now…?
Primary school teacher Emma Cupido compares the notion of “The One,” with believing in the Tooth Fairy. When the school holidays starts, she heads for her brother-in-law`s beach house in Strand, South Africa and stumbles on more than she bargained for.
Hollywood heartthrob, Damian Davidson flees LA thinking his beach house in SA would be a safe hideout from his sex scandal. He’s had his fill of manipulative women and when he mistakes Emma for a crazy fan, all hell breaks loose.

Emma and Damian get off to a rocky start but first impressions can be deceiving. Is there more to Damian than the superficial taint of Hollywood? And what happens when she agrees to a trip to LA? Will Emma become a believer in “The One” or just another Hollywood scandal?

My turn now
What is the name of your character? Is s/he fictional/historical?
Sarita Cerez (make sure to roll the r's). She's fictional, but I'd love to be able to meet her without having to be put on medications to 'stabilize' me.

When and where is the story set?
It's a contemporary romance set a medium security prison in Washington, D.C. where illegal immigrants are detained until they are deported.

What should we know about your character?
She is not an illegal immigrant, but has to act like one during an undercover assignment.

What is your character's goal?
To protect the daughter of the president of South Korea who is being deported as a punishment by her father after being a naughty girl.

Keeping her hands off of Matthew Carter, the guard she's fallen in love with.

What is screwing up your character's life (main conflict in writerly speak)?
She's undercover for the Secret Service and has to lie to Carter in order to protect her charge. It doesn't help that he thinks shes' being deported to Columbia.

What is the title?
Love Undercover
When can we expect the book to be published or when was it published?
It was released September 13th, 2014. You can get your copy here:

For next week I've tagged:
The ever evolving Kiru Taye:
A lover of books, as a teenager Kiru Taye used to read novels under the blanket during lights-outs in boarding school. These days, with a young family to take care of, she's still sacrificing sleep for the pleasures of a good book.

During the day though, she transforms her wildly vivid imagination into sensual, atmospheric romance stories with passionate characters.
You reach her via her blog, Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or Pinterest

BLURB

Sassy, successful Faith Brown has earned her place in the boardroom through hard work and sheer ambition. Making family is not on her agenda when there are businesses to develop and competitors to outdo. So when a casual affair with smooth and irresistible tycoon Mark Essien leads to an unplanned pregnancy, she’s determined not to make the mistakes her mother made by living with a man just for the sake of her child.

For Mark, personal matters have no place in the boardroom. Spotting the perfect opportunity, he ruthlessly launches a takeover bid for Faith’s Investment Brokerage firm. Finding out he’ll soon be a father, he knows he can’t let the indomitable and sexy Faith go through with her plans of single parenthood. All gloves are off. He’ll seduce her by any tactic necessary if it means his child doesn’t suffer the same stigma he did as a child.

Character interview with Lord McKenzie from Most Eligible Bachelor by Empi Baryeh

I’m so excited. Today I’d like to welcome Lord McKenzie from Most Eligible Bachelor by Empi Baryeh.  I’ve wanted him, um, I mean I’ve wanted to interview him for a long time, but he’s a very busy man.

NP: As you can see Lord, I have worn red and cleared off my couch. You know, just in case. *winks*

LM: (Chuckles) I knew that was going to come back to haunt me.

NP: Oh, I was just kidding, mostly. *giggles* How is Chantelle doing these days?

LM: Chantelle is great. She’s a wonderful mother to our twins. I fall in love with her anew every day.

NP: Congratulations on the twins. Must be a lot of work. My goodness you were burning me up with those dance moves. Where did you learn to dance?

LM: It’s not the most romantic story out there. I dated a Hispanic girl briefly.

NP: Have you gotten Chantelle to do that risky Salsa move with you?

LM: Really, Nana. Did you ever doubt that I’d get her to do it? The only reason it didn’t happen on the page was because Empi had a fixation with making me suffer – something about character development.

NP: *chuckles* Empi is a ball breaker. I’m going to try to ask this question without giving away any spoilers. It’s important that you tell me the truth, because this kind of made me mad at you. Don’t worry, you’re too handsome to stay mad at for too long.  Why didn’t you tell Chantelle about the thing that happened?  You know what I’m talking about, the thing on Valentine’s day?

LM: *embarrassed laugh* Have you met Chantelle when she’s angry?

NP: No, I haven’t, but you have a point. I’m sure I probably wouldn’t have told her either. If you could have told Empi one thing as she was creating your story, with no risk of her wiping you out of existence, what would it have been?

LM: Oh, I *did* tell her. She’s just too damned stubborn. Or at least that’s the story she’s sticking with. If you ask me, I think Empi grew fond of me in the course of the book and didn’t have the heart to “punish” me as much as she’d planned, but it might have been interesting if she hadn’t chickened out of the side plot of my ex-girlfriend dying of AIDS. And that’s all I’m saying, in case she wants to hang that side story on some other poor soul. You know, character development…

NP: What makes you different from all of the other romance novel heroes out there?

LM: You’re kidding, right?

NP: You are one of a kind, Lord. Okay, I don’t usually do this, but you’re special.  Here are some rapid fire questions. Tell me which option you would prefer.

  • No electricity or no running water? – no electricity (winks). You can do a lot with that.

  •  Fufu or banku? -  I have to choose?

  •     Reading or television? – is it odd that I have to think about this?

  •     Sweet or savory? – which do you want it to be?

  •     Go out or relax at home? – depends? Am I alone?

  •     Me or Chantelle? - *laughs*

Just kidding with that last one, kind of.  I know you’re head over heels in love with her and I adore her. I wish you both a great deal of success in your relationship and in your lives. Thanks for taking the time to stop by my blog, Lord. I had a great time.

LM: Anytime, Nana. I usually don’t grant interviews, but Chantelle has talked me into easing up a little.

To read more about the scrumptious, Lord, check out Most Eligible Bachelor by Empi Baryeh.

Magazine columnist Chantelle Sah doesn’t celebrate Valentine’s Day—not since her fiancĂ©’s betrayal three years ago. After botching her first assignment as a feature writer, she’s more than willing to put in a hard day’s work this Valentine’s Day; even if it means going on a date with gorgeous construction Tycoon, Lord McKenzie, and opening herself to an onslaught of all things love.

When Lord—his given name, not a title—sets his sights on Chantelle, it isn’t just work he has on his mind. But even he couldn’t have predicted the magnetic attraction between them when they meet, nor the evening ending with more than an interview. Now he has to convince Chantelle that their one-night stand wasn’t a mistake. Can he win her love without revealing a secret from their night of passion, which could prove fatal for both their hearts?
