Christmas Wonder Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Herding Cats and Burning Soup Christmas Wonder Blog Hop. A huge thanks to Anna for putting this together. She and her blog are awesome.

Celebrate the Wonder of the Season! Visit all of the blogs to see what they love most about the season and which books have made their Christmas wish lists! There's a giveaway at each stop so be sure to visit them all!

I'm supposed to share two things (my blog prize doesn't count):

1. What I'm looking forward to for the holiday season
To be honest I'm not much of a holiday season type of girl. My favorite part of it is not having to go to school (I'm a teacher).  This gives me more time to read. I should add spend time with my family too, huh?

2. Books on my wish list. I can't wait until Riding Rebel by Kiru Taye comes out. It seems every story in the series gets better and better so I'm anticipating great things from the third.

I stole this caption from one of her posts. (I don't think she'll mind, though)

Her other two books are out for the reading and I loved them.

Keeping Secrets

Have you ever loved someone and didn’t even know it?

That’s the dilemma facing Felix Essien when he wakes from a coma to find he is married to the most beautiful and sensual woman he’s ever known. He cannot remember her or their wedding. He who had sworn never to get married or to give his heart to another. Yet he feels an intense bond with her that he intends to explore fully.

Ebony can’t believe her good fortune when her paper husband wakes not remembering the temporary marriage arrangement with no intimacies he’d proposed but is now the adoring husband she’s always dreamt of. She plans to make the most of the passion blossoming between them.

However would he still feel that way when he regains his memory and realises she’s been keeping secrets and their marriage is not what he thinks it is.

Making Scandal
Sassy, successful Faith Brown has earned her place in the boardroom through hard work and sheer ambition. Making family is not on her agenda when there are businesses to develop and competitors to outdo. So when a casual affair with smooth and irresistible tycoon Mark Essien leads to an unplanned pregnancy, she’s determined not to make the mistakes her mother made by living with a man just for the sake of her child.

For Mark, personal matters have no place in the boardroom. Spotting the perfect opportunity, he ruthlessly launches a takeover bid for Faith’s Investment Brokerage firm. Finding out he’ll soon be a father, he knows he can’t let the indomitable and sexy Faith go through with her plans of single parenthood. All gloves are off. He’ll seduce her by any tactic necessary if it means his child doesn’t suffer the same stigma he did as a child.

With the media dogging their affairs in the boardroom and the bedroom, they find that making family is harder than making scandal.

In order to enter to win the $10 gift card I'm giving away, all you have to do is write something in the comments section that you think may help get me into the holiday spirit. Be warned that anything about snow will turn me off.

Ba Humbug.  Or rather, Happy Holidays everyone.

By the way, Here is a book I hope you'll put on your reading list for the holidays. It's one of mine.

Sarita Cerez is an undercover agent dealing with protecting her charge, immigration, unexpected friendships, and a forbidden secret romantic liaison.

  1. Don't think I've heard of Kiru Taye till now. Her books sound fantastic!

And LOL, you definitely won't see me suggesting snow when it comes to getting into the holiday spirit. That's nonexistent where I live. Holiday-themed books aren't nonexistent, though, so it's nice to find time to curl up with one of those! :)

  3. To get in the spirit I like making cookies (I have a special pumpkin chocolate chip recipe I've adapted to be gluten-free and vegan so all can enjoy), and watching Elf and Love, Actually. I agree with the no snow, I live in the SF area of Calif.!

    1. They started playing Christmas carols at the mall last month and I got annoyed, because it was so early. I think I'll have to wait until it's closer to Christmas before I can get the benefits of the songs.

  7. I love the idea of the blog hop because it introduces you to new authors. I haven't read any of your books before but I'm going to Amazon now to purchase "Love Undercover". It also takes me awhile to get into the Christmas spirit but I know it's official when I hear Silent Night by The Temptations. I would suggest creating u a Temptations Holiday station on Pandora, drink a glass of wine & snuggle up with a good book. Enjoy your Christmas break!!

  9. When I was a teenager I was acting pretty awful. Sneaking out, skipping school, etc. My mother was at the end of her rope (after already raising 4 other hell raisers) and she warned me that if I did not shape up I would get black coal for Christmas. Well, being the beer drinking, wild girl I was I did not listen to her warnings. When Christmas morning came I had one package under the tree. I was bewildered at the lack of presents. When I open my one and only present I found a lump of coal. Yep, no presents for me that year. I hope that cheers you up. Could anyone's Christmas been that bad? By the way, I still have the coal and bring it out every Christmas so no matter what happens, I still can laugh.

  12. Find a Christmas record you like, and play it lots. Also, I wouldn't start anything Christmas-y until a week before the day at most, that way you shouldn't have much time to get sick of the songs, food and decorations.

  16. I am a bit of a scrooge too. To get in the holiday spirit, I like to either watch Christmas movies or I volunteer at the local homeless shelter. It's nice to give your time.

  17. Have a Holly Jolly Christmas! I love to get Pandora on my holidays station and watch fun Christmas movies! Watching Bad Santa (on Netflix) now! :)

  18. Ok I would recommend going to Starbucks to have one of their special holiday drinks that are only available the last couple months of the year. Their Caramel Brulee Latte is ahhhmazing and always gets me into the holiday spirit. Unfortunately, it looks like there is no Sbuxs within 300 kilometres of you - I searched online. I have no idea how you handle that. Before I move anywhere I have to make sure there is at least one Sbuxs within 3-5 minutes of my new apartment lol. So my next idea which is something I just started for the first time was binge watching holiday movies on Netflix. There are like hundreds of holiday movies on there, many I have never heard of. So far most have been cheesy, but there have been some pretty funny ones and cute happy romance ones. So the movies, the Sbuxs coffee, oh and driving around looking at holiday lights and decorations always seem to get me into the holiday spirit. Also, I added you on tsu since I also just started a page and it seems to be the new "it" thing. Happy holidays! Thanks, allyswanson@hotmail.com.

    1. Isn't it sad that there is no Starbucks here in Ghana? The good news is that I went to the mall and drank a cup of hot chocolate at a cofee shop (so delicious) and had a chocolate chip muffin. The Christmas lights did me good.

  19. Well...I'm not going to say Christmas music because I hate Christmas music. Maybe the warm glow of the Christmas tree? And the sooner it comes..the sooner it goes? I'm assuming that you'll be munching on good food and spending time with people you care about. Merry Christmas!

  21. This may help, as I don't like snow either. I saw some You Tube videos of Straight No Chaser's (a music group) music today. I am not a fan of heavy music at all, but this was an accapella (sp) group that I LOVED! Their rendition of The 12 Days of Christmas is hysterical and you find yourself singing along until they change the lyrics, and you just laugh, lol
