Interview with the fabulous Georgia Lyn Hunter, author of Absolute Surrender

I’d like to welcome fellow Black Opal Books author of Absolute Surrender, Georgia Lyn Hunter. For once I’m on the fresh side of a book release. I was lucky to snag an interview from this busy lady. Lucky me, and lucky readers.

GLH: Ah, thank you, Nana, for those kind words. It’s wonderful to be here, and a little nerve-racking J

NP: How did you get interested in writing?

GLH:  I’ve always loved reading, so you can imagine my horror when we moved to the Middle East and there was a shortage of romance books. Not a good moment at all. It became frustrating and with plenty of time on my hands, my dabbling in writing became reality. And I’m so glad to finally be able to write the kind of books I love to read.

NP: Why do you write paranormal romance as opposed to any other romance subgenre?

GLH: I picked up the romance novel Night Pleasures from a shelf in a local bookstore—it was my first paranormal read and I was totally swept away, couldn’t wait to get my hands on more—Amazon became my best friend J. Moreover, I love all things paranormal. There is just something so seductive and beguiling about this genre, it resonated within me, left me with little choice but to write PNR.

NP: We share a common best friend in Amazon. Which aspect of writing do you enjoy the most? Plot, dialogue, etc.

GLH: I enjoy plot building, but dialogues, when I'm in the zone, it’s like conversing with my characters. What comes out of their mouths astonishes me most times. So love that.

NP: I love the cover of Absolute Surrender. Where did you get the idea for it?

GLH: Thank you, Nana. I left the cover to my daughter, just told her it had to be stunning J She came up with the concept, after all she was with me every step of the way, from the inception of the very first draft of this. And more, she deepened the background color of the cover to match Aethan’s stunning blue hair. Couldn't get all the shades of blue, but love it.

NP: I’m impressed with your daughter’s creative talents. Which movie or television character best represents you?

GLH: Me, seriously? Most ask about my characters…hmmn, let me think… my daughter says a mix between Rachel and Monica from ‘Friends’. Apparently I can be OCD like Monica, which I totally deny J And I have a fashion background like Rachel, along with the hair thing too, and the quick mouth. (Reads smart-ass)

NP: (Laughing). I can relate with being a smart-ass. What advice would you give to an aspiring writer?

GLH: Write like you’re living the story. What touches you will touch the reader. But write every day. It takes loads of patience, sweat and tears, but it’s worth it in the end. And most importantly, join a supportive critique group, then rewrite and write some more.

NP: Please give an analogy of what writing is like for you?

GLH: It’s like looking at a blank canvas and watching a painting come alive… lost in the tranquility of colors, I hear the melody in my heart, ones I pour onto paper. Once the foundation is planned—rough draft—the beautifying starts. Every sentence is studied and enhanced.

NP: That was a lovely poetic analogy. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to stop by.

GLH: Thank you Nana for having me. I really enjoyed spending time with you.

Now for the low down on Absolute Surrender. Isn't the cover gorgeous?

Blurb: Born in the flames of Heaven’s wrath, he’s all things sinful… and too dangerous to love.
An immortal guardian, Aethan’s walked alone for millennia, trapped in a hell of his own, until a feisty mortal crosses his path—a female he shouldn’t even look at, one who shakes the precarious foundations of all that he is—and one who’s determined to walk the edge of danger.

She only wants to be normal…
All her life, Echo Carter wanted “normal,” an impossible feat given that she can see demons. Now she’s determined to hunt down the demonii responsible for the death of her friend—and no man, no matter how sexy, will stop her—until she discovers a horrifying truth about herself, forcing her to turn to Aethan. But when two stubborn wills collide, a dangerous passion ignites…
As evil closes in, will this warrior overcome his darkest fears and claim her as his—or lose her to a far more sinister fate.

When you get the chance pick up your copy.
