Book Review: Absolute Surrender by Georgia Lyn Hunter

Georgia Lyn Hunter’s paranormal romance Absolute Surrender is awesome! After being banished from his world Aethan was sent to earth and made a warrior to protect humans from demonii. He  encounters Echo just after she kills one of these demonii and it’s on from there.

The book has so much depth and so many layers that I want to start a book club to discuss it. I enjoyed the heated romance between Echo and Aethan which sizzled in the beginning and eventually burned white hot (he he he- read the book to understand my mirth). Their relationship was strong, if not rocky. But as with all good romances, the HEA ending made me sigh.

Georgia’s  writing style is very descriptive. She is able to set the worlds she has created in your mind’s eye. I wish I could say I enjoyed travelling to hell, but no I did not. I'm sure that was her intention. The fight scenes were wonderful. I’m a fight scene affection-ado and hers were intense with well choreographed movements. When the sword came from… sorry no spoilers here, but it was so cool.

The conversations were witty and engaging, making me chuckle at points. The fact that these huge tough warriors also had a sweet tooth entertained me to no end.

I absolutely love a strong female heroine and Echo did not disappoint. She had a bad upbringing, but was able to fight instead of giving into the harshness of life. I liked that. One thing I didn’t like about Echo was that she didn’t always make the best decisions. That annoyed me, but not enough to stay angry with her for too long. I know the story needed the drama of her bad judgment to make the book progress.

Georgia Lyn Hunter should not keep me waiting for a sequel. I fell in love with all of the warriors and want to read each of their stories, like yesterday.

If you want a book full of action, romance that will make you blush, and some fantastic writing, then Absolute Surrender is for you. I give Absolute Surrender five chocolate bars out of five. Damn it! Georgia took all of my chocolate!

Note: I was given an ARC  of this book in return for an honest review, but I wanted to read it comfortably on my beloved Kindle so I bought it from Amazon.com. Pick up your copy today, I promise that you will not be disappointed.

Blurb: Born in the flames of Heaven’s wrath, he’s all things sinful… and too dangerous to love.

An immortal guardian, Aethan’s walked alone for millennia, trapped in a hell of his own, until a feisty mortal crosses his path—a female he shouldn’t even look at, one who shakes the precarious foundations of all that he is—and one who’s determined to walk the edge of danger.

She only wants to be normal…
All her life, Echo Carter wanted “normal,” an impossible feat given that she can see demons. Now she’s determined to hunt down the demonii responsible for the death of her friend—and no man, no matter how sexy, will stop her—until she discovers a horrifying truth about herself, forcing her to turn to Aethan. But when two stubborn wills collide, a dangerous passion ignites…

As evil closes in, will this warrior overcome his darkest fears and claim her as his—or lose her to a far more sinister fate.

    1. The cover is fantastic. I interviewed her and she said her daughter came up with the idea.

  2. Nana, thank you for such a wonderful review, and for chocolate bars--when do I get them? Forget the warriors, I need to settle my own craving :)
It was a pleasure to read this review, you understood them really well. Yes, Echo didn't always make the best decisions, poor girl, but she will continue to driving Aethan crazy :)

    1. You are very welcome. I only wrote the truth. You have written a wonderful book and I'll talk about it until I'm as blue as Aethan's gorgeous hair.

  3. Lovely review! I couldn't put the book down, as utterly depressed once it was over. I loved being immersed in that world. I can't wait to revisit it in book 2!
