After reading review after review about the greatness of Three Days of Rain by Christine Hughes I
finally decided to buy and read the book myself. I took it as a challenge not to cry
while reading it like others who read it. I am happy to say that not a
single tear was shed during the reading of this book. I was able to keep each
tear welled up, none spilled over.
Christine Hughes’ writing style is all encompassing. The
reader is submerged not only in the lives of the characters but their feelings almost overwhelm the reader. She is a brilliant writer who is able to wrench
emotion from the reader even when they don’t intent to let it surface.
Gosh darn it (please substitute with harsher words), Three Days of Rain was not what I
expected in the least, and yet I liked it. Everything fit together in Jake's
life, just as it should. For the book to end any other way would have seemed
unreal which would have been contrary to Christine’s gift of making it all seem
very real.
I give this book four chocolate bars and a high
recommendation.
Is there any higher rating than 4 chocolate bars? I'm off to get my copy of Christine's book and maybe raid my mom's secret candy drawer. Thanks for the review, Nana!
ReplyDeleteThe highest rating is five chocolate bars. Thanks for stopping by Carole, and enjoy both the book and your mom's chocolate (contraband chocolate is the best)
