I’ve been in the healthcare field for over fifteen
years. One thing I’ve noticed is that medical doctors and nurses go together
like peanut butter and jelly, rice and beans, me and chocolate. A seemingly
good combination right? Hmmmm.
My apologies to the 24% of doctors who don’t fit into this
category (my statistics only), but for the most part doctors are players, at
least during their early residency years. Perhaps as they become more mature
they settle down, but until then, watch out nurses.
I have one line in Midwife
to Destiny where Ora makes a comment to her cousin, Esi about dating
doctors.
“You remember what Dr. Miller said once?
‘Student nurses are incentives.’”
I’m sad to inform you that
this is a real quote taken from an actual doctor. My jaw dropped when I heard him
say it. I knew that doctors were bad, but not that bad.
Doctors tend to be portrayed
as players who dally with nurses in movies and television shows such as ER and Grey’s
Anatomy. In
my opinion, the writers get these wild character attributes from more than just
their imaginations.
I may rag on doctors, but I love
‘em (in a platonic manner). As I mentioned before, not all of them use
women. They just won’t date my daughter
until after they’ve completed residency and finished sowing their wild oats.
