The Blurb
From the very first touch…
The moment suave businessman Dante Sanderson brushes hands with Lanelle Murphy, he can't get her out of his head. The guarded beauty resists all of his polished attempts at seduction. To soften the pain in her past, she's dedicated her life and family fortune to helping others, not chasing sexy millionaires like Dante.
Something about Lanelle makes Dante want to open his heart like never before. He knows their encounters are destiny. Lanelle is sure their sparks mean another heartache is in the making. Yet her cherished new project—a state-of-the-art neonatal unit—brings them together. From charity ball dances to strolls in Milan, desire pushes her…right into his arms. But will Lanelle be able to seize this sweet second chance at love?

Book Review Depot Blog Hop and #Giveaway: Win a Kindle Fire

BRD-Books
This Hop is brought to you by

This has got to be the most unique blog hop I've ever been a part of. We were to pick a cover we liked and cast a character for the book. I chose The Misadventures of Me and My Uterus. I could totally see Renee Zellwigger playing this role. Especially after her performance in the Bridget Jones movies. Her portrayal of a woman having one uterine mishap after another would be hilarious.

Midwife to Destiny vs. Grey’s Anatomy - Decadent Ubuntu Line Blog Hop

I’m throwing a huge ball of gratitude to Kathy Bosman author of Dragonfly Moments for organizing this amazing blog hop. Remember to enter to win the $30 Amazon gift card and e-books.

From Amazon.com
I’m a fan of Grey’s Anatomy.  I got hooked a few years ago when I shared an office with a doctor who watched the series during the down times. He would laugh, argued, and once he even cried – I mean he shed tears.

When my fabulous editor and author, Zee Monodee, stated that my latest release was the Grey’s Anatomy of Africa, I was tickled, um, brown.  My book and the show aren’t a perfect match, though. Here are some similarities and differences between Midwife to Destiny and Grey’s Anatomy

Similarities
1.  The hospital setting  holds its own sort of intrigue.
2.  Everyone is beautiful with a high level of intelligence.
3.  The romance is off the charts.
4.  Sometimes you want to grab the heroine and make her do what you want. Tell me you’ve never wanted to reach into the TV and get a hold of Grey’s lapels?
5. We talk about medical stuff without boring you so you learn a thing or two.
6. Can we say dramatic characters and situations?
7. Both were written by fabulously awesome black women. Gotta love Nana Prah and Shonda Rhimes.

Differences
1. Nurses play a major role in Midwife to Destiny. A lack of active nurses on the show annoyed me because it’s such an active hospital.
2. Sorry, but there’s no sex in Midwife to Destiny. Not to say there isn’t heat, though. Grey’s Anatomy is about everybody having sex with somebody.
3. There’s only one arrogant character in my book, who happens to be a doctor (not the hero)  versus a whole lot of them on Grey’s.

Okay, so comparing the lists, Midwife to Destiny is more like Grey’s anatomy in Africa than not. But don’t take my word for it, get your copy and judge for yourself.

Blurb

Ghanaian nurse Aurora ‘Ora’ Aikins never expected to find the love of her life while on vacation in South Africa. Engaged to another and believing that love has no place in her life, she returns to Ghana, and puts duty and honor first.

Three years later, Dr. Jason Lartey still can’t get Ora out of his mind or his heart. After learning she never married, he takes a risk and moves to Ghana hoping to rekindle what they started. His sudden appearance in Ora’s Emergency Department sends sparks flying all over again.

They’re in the same country, working in the same hospital, and together but distance creeps between them. Can they make their destined love one for the ages?
