Prah, Constantine and Baryeh Reviews: Deliver Me by Farrah Rochon

Boo hoo! Summer is ending (I'm holding out for the autumn solstice to call it to a close). I hope you had a good one and that fall will be even more spectacular. This month we chose a contemporary romance to delve into. Remember to stop by Constantine and Baryeh’s blogs to find out what they thought about the book.

The Blurb
After being dumped by her boyfriend and passed over for yet another promotion, Monica Gardner moves to New Orleans, determined to make a name for herself as the new attending ER physician at Methodist Memorial Hospital. As for men--she's through with them. But when given the chance to chair the hospital's annual charity banquet, Monica must elicit the help of gorgeous Ob-gyn Elijah Holmes.

Eli will do anything to thwart his matchmaking Mama's plan to reunite him with his high school girlfriend. So, when the sexy new ER doc asks for his help in planning this year's charity banquet, Eli devises the perfect scheme: He'll help put on the best banquet the hospital has ever seen, if Monica poses as his new girlfriend. But when Eli finds himself falling in love, he realizes convincing Monica of his true feelings may be his greatest delivery yet.

My Review
The story between Eli and Monica was lovely. They each had their own past issues to contend with and it progressed well throughout the novel. I didn’t quite understand Eli’s motivations when it came to asking Monica to pose as his girlfriend. In my opinion his mother wasn’t so demanding for him to have to go to such lengths. I think his subconscious wanted Monica for real to begin with and didn’t know how to sidestep his rule of not dating doctors. His heart knew.

The supporting characters were entertaining. Monica’s best friend, Nia, was hilarious and Eli’s brothers kept him on his toes.

With a few of the good aspects stated I’d like to mention that there was a side story with another couple, Jeffrey and Amanda, within the book. I kept waiting for the purpose of this to reveal itself because I don’t think it added to the story at all. It made the book longer and for me it took me out of the romance between Eli and Monica which was why I’d read the book.

I will be reading more Holmes Brother’s stories.

I give this book three out five stethoscope shaped chocolate bars.

I got my copy from Amazon.

I'm heading over to Constantine and Baryeh's blogs to see if they enjoyed the book.

Book Review: Any Time You Need Me (Moments In Maplesville Book 7) by Farrah Rochon #AARomance

The Blurb
It’s been a decade since Aubrey Laurent left Maplesville shrouded in scandal. Intent on taking the music industry by storm, she moved to Los Angeles to chase her dreams of becoming a pop star. But life has thrown nothing but sour notes her way. Now Aubrey has no choice but to return to her hometown and face the people who scorned her. And the ex-boyfriend whose heart she broke.

After spending the last two years taking care of his dying father, Sam Stewart is ready to start living for himself. But just when he prepares to take the first step forward—and possibly away from Maplesville—his past comes tumbling back to upend his plans.

The last thing Sam wants is to reconnect with the woman who crushed his heart, but as he and Aubrey work together on a community project, they discover that the heat that once burned between them is still there. And it’s hotter than ever.

My Review
Ms. Rochon is on fire with the Maplesville series. This book was wonderful. Dale was a character who transitioned from being an alcoholic when he couldn’t handle his father’s diagnosis to returning to they guy his friends all knew and loved. Although I’ll admit that there were a few times in this book where Dale behaved like an ass.

It takes a little while to learn what Aubrey did to Dale to make him hate her, even after ten years. During this time of reading kept trying to guess what awful thing she’d done. My guesses were not as shocking as what actually happened. I’m talking gasp worthy.

And despite what happened between them when they were young and stupid, Aubrey and Dale were perfect for each other. Forgiveness can be difficult.

I give this five out of five microphone shaped chocolate bars.

I purchased this book from Amazon.

Review: Any Way You Want It (Moments in Maplesville #6) by Farrah Rochon #AARomance

The Blurb
Nyree Grant is determined to hold the grand opening of the Any Way You Want It Salon and Spa on the birthday of her aunt, who left Nyree the inheritance that made it possible for her to follow her dream. But finding a contractor to renovate the old building on such short notice has proven to be a problem. Enter Dale Chauvin, former local football standout and current star of her late-night fantasies.

Once a shoe-in for the NFL, Dale Chauvin has spent the past five years working construction jobs in Maplesville while guarding a secret he’s held since college. But a new renovation project is shoving him out of his rut and testing the limits of both his management skills and his patience. Though his biggest obstacle may be fighting off the feelings he’s starting to have for his new boss.

My Review
I have read every Moments in Maplesville novella and loved them all. I’ve learned over the years that there comes a point in every series where you don’t enjoy the book you’re reading as much as you did the others. This is the book in that series for me. It’s not that I didn’t like it, because I did, but I found something missing.

In the beginning I kept wondering where the chemistry was between Nyree and Dale. I had to wait a little while before it manifested. On a good note, Nyree is an amazing character. One of those power women who’s a little too stubborn for her own good at times, but still manages to prevail because she knows she can.

I have faith in Ms. Rochon’s story telling skills and have already preordered her next book, Any Time You Need Me, which looks delicious.

I give this book three out of five shampoo bottle shaped chocolate bars.

All You Can Handle (Moments in Maplesville #5) by Farrah Rochon #AARomance #ContemporaryRomance

This book was an awesome way to start off my 2016 reading year. The good news is that she has so many books written for me to read.

The Blurb
Ian Landry knows a thing or two about responsibility. He put his dream of owning a motorcycle shop on hold and steers clear of romantic entanglements while he raises his baby sister. But when the building he’s coveted for his bike shop suddenly becomes available, he can’t allow the opportunity to pass him by. And when he spots a beautiful stranger sitting at the bar of his favorite hangout, Ian decides it can't hurt to have a little fun…if only for one night. Only he doesn’t count on his smoking-hot one-night stand showing up on his doorstep the next morning.

The sleepy town of Maplesville is only supposed to be the first stop on Madison “Sonny” White’s new journey to becoming a professional pastry chef. After breaking free from the shackles of her former life, she isn’t looking to get tied down anytime soon. But the appeal of this quaint town on a Louisiana bayou draws Sonny in more than she could have ever anticipated, and the attraction between her and the hottie who turns out to be her new landlord cannot be denied.

Love was the last thing they were looking for. But their chance meeting kick-starts a high-octane rush of desire that gives Ian and Sonny all they can handle.

My Review
Breaking free from a life that once held her captive, Sonny becomes her own woman. This means following her heart and her libido.

I’ve read the four previous books in this series and knew Ms. Rochon could set it off, but I’ll admit that this was the hottest book of them all. The story was deep, with Ian having issues with his family and having to raise his baby sister (which in and of itself is a responsible type of sexy) all while trying to achieve his dream of owning his own his own bike shop. Sonny had her own family problems that made me happy that she’d found herself.

Their conversations had me chuckling. Although they both had good reasons for not entering into a relationship even though their attraction stated otherwise.

This is a standalone, but having read the others, I liked reconnecting with the characters from the previous books in the series.

I give this novella five out five cake shaped chocolate bars (bet you thought I'd shape them like motorcycles).

I purchased this book from Amazon.

Review: I Dare You by Farrah Rochon

The Blurb

As a wild child, Stefanie Sutherland-Thomas never backed down from a dare. But the responsible, low-key role she has grown into as a widowed single mother and Army nurse has her feeling stuck in a rut. When her best friend challenges her to do something daring while on vacation, Stef picks up the gauntlet. Her mission: to have a one-night stand with a random island hottie. But Stef gets the shock of her life when she discovers her casual hook-up isn’t some random stranger; he’s her brother’s boss!

Dustin “Hawk” Patrick knows a thing or two about taking risks. The ex-Navy pilot gambled by striking out on his own and now owns one of the fastest growing helicopter shuttle services in the Gulf South. But now everyone wants a piece of his business. Desperate for a reprieve from the pressures of work, Dustin uses his best friend’s wedding in Turks and Caicos as an opportunity to engage in a stress-free fling. Until he discovers his hot island angel is his best friend’s sister—in other words, off limits. But after just one taste of Stefanie’s passionate kiss, Dustin knows he can never let her go.

When it comes to love, will Dustin and Stefanie dare to let their desires take control?

My Review
I swear, every book in this series gets more amazing than the last. I was waiting for Stefanie’s story to unfold right after reading Stefan’s (her twin brother). Longing for it actually. A military ER nurse can only have a fabulous story line. And she does.

One thing I really enjoyed about this novella was that it started out hot and heavy, simmered for a while as a friendship grew between Dustin and Stefanie and then it blazed again. A wonderful romance.

I’m so happy I have book five on my Kindle to jump into.

I purchased this book from Amazon.

I give this book five pineapple shaped chocolate bars.
