Book Review: Undeniable (Latin Men Book 7) by Delaney Diamond

The Blurb
They can’t stand each other…or can they?

For years, hard work and perseverance have been the tenets by which Santiago Vila lived his life. As such, he’s achieved everything he’s gone after. Except Abena Dubango. She’s the total package of brains, beauty, and a sense of humor. Even though she wears another man’s ring, he’s never forgotten the moments they spent together. And he’ll make sure she doesn’t, either.

Abena has plans. Get married, have children, and live happily ever after. She even has a fiancĂ© to achieve her goals. But two things stand in her way: Santiago Vila, and her undeniable attraction to him.

My review
I have wanted to read Abena and Santiago’s story since I was introduced to them in More Than a Mistress (Latin Men Book 6). I was so happy when this book came out that I rushed to read it and it didn’t disappoint. Filled with the couple’s personal history, friendship, passion, and a true romance. My main issue with the book was Abena’s stubbornness when it came to Santiago. Of course it had a basis, and to an extent I totally understood why she resisted him for so long, but there were a few times when I wanted to yell at her so she’d finally wake up and accept the deliciousness that was Santiago. Other than that the book was amazing.

I give this story five out of five lobster shaped chocolate bars.

Review: More Than a Mistress (Latin Men Book 5) by Delaney Diamond

The Blurb
Will their arrangement ever be enough?

Relationships are not a priority for restaurateur Esteban Galiano, and when he sees Sonia Kennedy at a party, he plans to make her a conquest in a long line of many. But she rebuffs his advances and forces him to adjust—determined to meet the challenge and do whatever he must to make her his.

All her life, Sonia’s beauty has caused unnecessary problems, and right now she needs a job, not a suitor. When Esteban makes an indecent proposal, her first instinct is to turn him down. But soon she’s rethinking her response. Maybe it’s time for her to use what she’s got, to get what she wants.

My Review
This book took me by surprise on so many levels. The fact that a hot, powerful, rich, Latin man would fall in love with a strong, independent mixed raced woman in a well written novel was not one of the shockers. Ms. Diamond surely knows how to weave an enticing romance. The story was good, and even though there were points where I closed my eyes and shook my head wanting to scream out no, I was overruled by the characters and their own personal motivations.

Was there pain involved with Esteban and Sonia’s arrangement? There sure was. If the characters hadn’t been tortured there wouldn’t have been a book. I guess living a luxurious life takes some of the edge off. But the way their emotions evolved while they were together was what impressed me. It went a different direction than what I was expecting and that was a good thing. Their resolution made me a very happy reader. Ms. Diamond likes to put her characters through quite a bit of stress before they end up with their happily-ever-after.

I give this book five out of five wine bottle shaped chocolate bars.

EXCERPT

The food was excellent, starting with a platter of picada, served on a wood plate overflowing with a fine selection of salami, ham, and cubed cheese. Not wanting to spoil her appetite, Sonia ate a modest amount, but Esteban had no such limitations. He ate heartily and washed everything down with the delicious red wine.
When their entrees arrived, the sight and smell of the steak made Sonia’s stomach dance in anticipation. She wasn’t disappointed. The grilled steak was well seasoned, tender, and juicy, served with a side of basil-fried corn and chimichurri sauce. The fresh garlic and spices danced across her palate, and she emitted an involuntary moan.
“You like it?” Although the words came out as a question, they sounded more like a statement.
“Delicious,” Sonia replied, around a mouthful of meat.
With a satisfied smile, Esteban sliced into his own steak, kept company on the plate by a fried lobster tail. “We haven’t even gotten to the best part yet.”
“And what’s that?”
“Dessert.”

Across the table, his eyes danced with a teasing light, and a throb of heat blossomed between Sonia’s legs.

Review: A Passionate Love by Delaney Diamond

The Blurb
Simone Brooks and Cameron Bennett should not be together. She’s a wealthy socialite looking for a suitable husband. A man with the right pedigree and an economic status that matches her own. He’s part owner of the hottest nightclub in Atlanta with his siblings. Someone who loves cooking, the outdoors, and women, not necessarily in that order.

After one night together, their sizzling chemistry makes it difficult to stay away. Then comes the hard part—navigating their differences to salvage a relationship that, while it may be imperfect, overflows with love and passion.

My Review
I have yet to read a Delaney Diamond book  I didn't like so I had high expectations when I picked up A Passionate Love. I was not disappointed.

My biggest question as I read through the book and fanned myself as things got hot between Simone and Cameron was how could these two people from succinctly different worlds maintain a relationship? Cameron is a hard working club owner who is, to be honest, a bit frugal in how he spends his money while Simone has always had money and knows how to buy, buy, buy and buy some more. Money can be a huge conflict between couples and I loved the way their issues were worked out in a realistic way through open communication, sheer will, and of course, love.

I give this book five out five cuff linked shaped chocolate bars.

Review: One of the Guys by Delaney Diamond #AARomance

The Blurb
He makes her feel like a woman…

Mechanic Ronnie Taylor spends most of her time with men. As such, she’s always been tough, but Diego Molina makes her feel the opposite of tough. The big Cuban is brash, bold, and gets under her skin. She finally has to admit the reason he annoys her isn’t because she dislikes him. It’s because she likes him a little too much.

When Diego turns the tables on Ronnie, he uncovers the sensual woman hiding underneath. But past regrets threaten to derail their new relationship. Before they can get to forever, they must trust that they’ve found what they’ve been looking for all along.

My Review
I have read an enjoyed every book in this series. I really liked that Ronnie and Diego had known each other for a year, but even though they’d worked together other on car projects, they knew very little about each other. And yet the attraction always loomed between them until it exploded when they finally got together.

Diego was protective of Ronnie (on occasion a bit overprotective), but it was sweet. I wouldn’t have thought that the backstory of such a perfect man would’ve been so intense, but Ms. Diamond surprised me with it.

I give this book four out of five wrench shaped chocolate bars.

Review: The Wrong Man by Delaney Diamond #InterracialRomance

The Blurb
They have nothing in common. So why can’t they stay away from each other?

Construction foreman Tomas Molina has no desire to settle down. He enjoys the single life too much, with all the choices of women available to him. But when ad executive Talia Jackson becomes single again, they start an affair that has him questioning his beliefs about relationships. And the next thing he knows, he’s the one demanding exclusivity.

Talia Jackson has always done what’s right. Gone to the right schools, worn the right clothes, and married the right man. Seeking a boost when her marriage ends in divorce, she finds comfort in the arms of Tomas Molina, a man who makes her feel alive in a way she never has before. Then an unexpected result of their affair forces her to make a tough decision—stay in the world she’s known all her life, or make a future with the man she’s grown to love.

My Review
This book was amazing. It moved at a pace that got me into the lives of both Tomas and Talia without bogging me down with too much back story. Although their attraction wasn’t instantaneous, having known each other for years before the start of the book, when it did spark it was an inferno.

Tomas’ confidence could’ve been a turn off if it didn’t match Talia’s so well. Both of them set each other off in a teasing manner from the beginning of the book.  I loved the concept of a confirmed bachelor having his head turned around unexpectedly by the woman meant for him. Only neither of them know they are meant to be together.

Ms. Diamond threw in a couple of curve balls to the relationship that had me raising my eyebrows in interest.  Not including the “unexpected result of their affair.”

I give this book five out of five chocolate bars.

Share the Love Blog Hop- #Giveaway

I love sharing, books, never chocolate. Anna at Herding Cats and Burning Soup has put on yet another stupendous blog hop. This time we're letting everyone know which blog or author we absolutely lurv.

I'd like to share with you a wonderful writer. I fell in love with her after reading one of her sweet books. I've since graduated to her more spicy novels. Delaney Diamond has a slew of books out, but I'm focusing on her Love Unexpected series. I've read the first book and loved it (read review here). The other two are sitting on my Kindle beckoning to me each time I turn it on.

One night changes everything . . . again.

Years ago, when Ryan Stewart saw Shawna Ferguson, it was love at first sight. Unfortunately, he wasn’t a free man, and his deception caused him to lose her after a weekend that changed his life.

When Shawna’s sister and brother-in-law set her up on a blind date, she has no idea it’s with Ryan, with whom she’d spent a weekend she wishes she could forget. She reluctantly agrees to finish the date with him, but doing so leaves her vulnerable to his charms and the heat he ignited in her that very first night.

They didn’t mean to fall in love…

Brenda Morrison has known Jay Santorini for years, but he’s off limits. He’s her friend’s ex-husband, and except for one slip-up, they’ve always had a platonic relationship. But now that she’s back in Atlanta, the smoldering attraction between them is much harder to resist.

Jay has always kept a hands-off approach to Brenda, and the time they spend together starts out innocently enough, or so he pretends. Because the truth is, Jay has feelings for her, and those feelings are anything but innocent.
