Spotlight: Texas Two Step by Jody Vitek #ContemporaryRomance #Giveaway

You are such lucky people. Today I’m featuring an exclusive excerpt from Jody Vitek’s Texas Two Step. I hope you enjoy it. Jody will be awarding a $25 Amazon or B/N GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour.

BLURB:

You first met Chad Rogers and Chloe Atwood in Florida Heat, now you get to read their story.

Old family ties broken, childhood pain healed and true love revealed—one step at a time.

One phone call sends Chad Rogers back to the one place he’s been avoiding—home. Being at his mother’s side after she is shot, he faces the younger brother who tormented him during childhood and his ex-lover, Chloe Atwood.

Chloe Atwood is engaged to a family friend. Chad Rogers steps back into her world, spinning it off its axis. She sees him in a new light this time around, leaving her to question if they can have a future together.

EXCERPT:

Chloe’s friend from last night. Stephanie. She waved and sauntered toward him.

“I’ll be back shortly with your burger.”

“Thanks, Morgan.” He smiled, warmed by Stephanie’s presence. Company. Female company.

“In need of some company tonight?” She pulled a tall bar chair close to his and sat. “Rough day?” She nodded at his shot of tequila.

“No, just...life.” He tossed the light golden liquid down his throat and sucked the lime wedge. “So, you’re Chloe’s friend and her fiancĂ©’s sister?”

“Yep. We’ve been friends since birth. Our parents have been friends since their college days.”

“Wow. Keeping the families together, aren’t they?”

“What do you mean?” Her brown eyes concentrated on him. She tipped her head to the side. Auburn hair cascaded over her shoulders.

“Chloe and...Andrew.” He purposefully stumbled on his name. “By marrying each other they’re keeping the two families together. Cozy, don’t you think?” The last part came out more spiteful than he meant. But who cared. He took a long pull from the bottle of Corona.

She leaned into him. “I don’t think it’s as cozy as we could be.” A long red painted fingernail trailed slowly down his chest. “Let Chloe have my brother. You can have me. Even if it is for only a couple of days.”

The crotch of his jeans tightened. His body was trying to do the thinking for him. The last time he’d had sex was over a year ago. He had an itch that’d love to be scratched by the female persuasion. “I’m sorry, but as enticing as that sounds, I can’t.” He removed her hand and took another swig of his beer.

“Why not? You don’t have a girlfriend. So?”

He looked into dark smoldering eyes. “How do you know I don’t have a girlfriend?”

“Chloe told me. So if you don’t have a girlfriend, why not have some fun?” Her full lips pouted.

So, Chloe had kept tabs on him all this time. “I can’t.” He shifted as his jeans loosened. Did she still have feelings for him? She had returned the kiss last night, but was also the one who pushed away, putting space between them.

“Hello? What are you so deep in thought about?” Stephanie’s hand waved in front of his face.

“Sorry. Thinking about something.”

“More like someone, someone named Chloe. I saw the way you were with her last night. Let me help you take your mind off her.” She snuggled closer to him.

His waitress approached. “Stephanie, can I bring you a drink?” Morgan set the plate in front of him. “Here’s your burger.”

“I’m good, thanks.” Stephanie’s eyes remained deadlocked on Chad’s.

“Can I bring you anything else?”

“Can I get this to go?” He pointed to his plate. “And the check, please?” Temptress Stephanie worked an evil magic on him.
