W is for West Africa (The Gambia in particular) #atozchallenge

I was going to make W stand for  Western Sahara, but that area is boring with all its arid weather (sorry). The Gambia, officially known as  The Republic of the Gambia, is a small country in West Africa which I have never visited, but have heard great things about from people, okay, a person, who has.

  1. I visited Africa for the world cup in 2010. I have traveled extensively and I tell people that Europe with it's architecture is gorgeous but Africa is simply magnificent with natural beauty. Africa is truly larger than life-indescribable in it's glory. I can't wait to explore more and the Gambia sounds like a place very worth visiting. :)

    1. You should make a travel brochure for Africa. I think you'd do a fantastic job of it.

  2. That beach looks lovely. I have been just a bit farther north in Morocco. Loved the beaches on the west coast.

    1. I have a friend who went to Morocco and raved about the beaches. I almost made it my M word, but Maritius won out.

    1. Me neither. I only learned of it's existence eight years ago.

  5. I can see why it would appeal more than sandy desert to you. ;) I'm sure the desert has its beauty too, but not as obvious. Nice choice!

  9. I think it's so interesting that it's called The Gambia rather than just Gambia. And that sunset on the beach picture is ridiculously gorgeous.

    1. Isn't it odd. As if there is more than one Gambia in the world and they want to be seen as number one.
