My Review

The stories in this series keep getting better. I don’t know if it’s because I fell in love with Wolf in the last book or because the story was just that darn excellent.

Meli isn’t the typical strong female character that kicks ass and asks questions later, but she has an inner strength that some people wouldn’t be able to touch. She has gone through a lot in her life (Ms. Gray spared no expense to make this woman suffer – she tried to destroy her psychologically, emotionally and physically), but she persevered, because she has a tenacity of spirit that no one can ever take away from.

Wolf is an alpha to the core, add to that his amazing psychic ability and hot body, and I end up having to have to fan myself at the mere thought of him. Yet he wasn’t always as strong as he could’ve been throughout the story, this made him completely human in my eyes, more accessible and less deliciously perfect, but a better more accessible hero. He and Meli were a match made in heaven.

Just so you know before you start reading the book, Ms. Gray is horrible to her characters (For her sake I hope they never come to life), which makes the book that more intriguing because you really have no idea what’s coming next.

My Review

I’ve had this book sitting on my Kindle for a long time waiting for one thing – the release of the second book to draw near. I’m acquainted with Ms. Gray through her Shadow Series and her engaging story telling hooks me every time. I anticipated it happening with this series too. Which it did.

Ms. Gray took us deep into a paranormal psychological thriller which didn’t make me wonder who the bad guy was, but instead how the heck they would take the psychopath down without losing all of the team members. She made it seem so believable, as if people had powers the military could try to manipulate.

The romance between Cyn and Kayden was amazing. A nice simmer from the beginning because of their past (I would’ve like to have learned more about what happened between them before) that built to crescendo levels.

She introduced some awesome secondary characters with fabulous powers and I can’t wait to read book two.

My Review

Every once in a while you read a book and wonder how come you’ve never read anything by that author before and then you rectify it by buying another book by her (I got Affairs of the Dead). A.J. Locke has done it for me.

I was most impressed by the two stories she told in one. Yes she took us back and forth through time to let us know what happened to get Malachi cursed, but both Malachi’s present day life and her life in the Averneath were intriguing.

Magic popped throughout this book, which was a good thing. I found it unique that the characters who had been cursed came from a land of witches where everyone had power. They were brought to earth to suffer for their sins (and in many cases just because the queen was a nutcase).

Which brings me to the all-powerful queen. One of the best villains I’ve read in a long time. There was no way anyone could mistake her for a good person. Not even when she tried to fake it. Those curses she came up with were evil-laugh genius.

I loved Malachi. Her power impressed me and so did her strength to survive the life she’d been dealt. The intense romance she shared with Knave was beautiful. I wish I could’ve learned more about Knave and Julian. Malachi was placed in an impossible position where she couldn’t fall in love without ripping someone’s head off. All too sad.

My Review

If I had known there was a book one to this story (I bought it because I was so enthralled with the cover and the blurb) I would’ve read it first. As it turns out I’ll be reading it anyway.

Jack Frost was not the most likeable character for me, at least in the beginning, but then I warmed up to him as his personality (still a bit of an ass) shone through. He was one funny man, though.

Mina on the other hand was the sweetest woman a person could know. Her cool leveled control when she had to deal with both Jack and the drama life threw her way was inspiring.

Together they complimented each other. Always a good thing in a couple.

I found it to be a fulfilling story. Most likely because they had history.

My Review

Alyssa and her all-encompassing love for Dillon had me gasping, grinning, and saying ‘aw’ a lot. To be so close to the one you love and have no chance of ever having him yet risking your life to be with him, was so sad yet inspiring. And all that she and Dillon went through still has me shaking my head (in a good way).

The action, suspense, and romance came together to keep me glued to the story. An amazing well told novel. I see more of Ms. Duvall’s stories in my future.

I purchased this book from Amazon (at full price). It’s one of the best purchases I’ve made all year.

Prah, Constantine and Baryeh Review: The Lightning Prophesy by Emily Cyr #ParanormalRomance

Happy summer everyone. That means people are on vacation either chasing their children or reading. Maybe something in between is going on, too.

My Review

The story is wonderful.  A witch with little control over her powers meets and falls in love with a werewolf as they attempt to find who’s killing witches on the East Coast.  The heroine, Delaney, had me laughing with her flippant comments and the situations she got herself into, especially with her friend Troy who was a hoot and a half.

Reid had me fanning myself with his hotness. And I adored the way Reid and Delaney’s romance combusted, from the moment they met, to… I don’t do spoilers so you’ll have to read and find out for yourself.

As I mentioned I really liked the story, but found it could do with some more editing. I found the plot to be intriguing and had difficulty putting it down once I started it so I would’ve given it a higher rating if all had been well with the editing, but it wasn’t. That’s what dragged my rating down.

My Review

I’m usually a wimp when it comes to ghost stories, but my friend recommended this book after reading it so I had to give it a try. I loved it.

The ghost was adorable, although there were a couple points of scary in the story.

The story was wonderful. It took off in a way that hooked me right away. The attraction between the hero and heroine was intense, especially since they were literally pushed into it.

My Review

This is my third and definitely not my last Kyn Chronicle book. Shadow’s Moon is spectacular. Once again Ms. Gray drew me into a story where it felt as if I were involved.

I fell in love with Warrick in the first book. How could I not love an alpha male  radiating with power and a little bit of instability. Xander is awesome. I love a kick ass female. I’ll admit that she’s a little on the violent side, but she’s a dominant wolf shifter and Wraith, she’d be weird if she were any other way. Warrick and Xander’s romance kept me rooting for them because it was sweet, violent, painful, and destined all at the same time.

The action scenes were fantastic. I don’t even know what to say about them because they were just that good.

There were a couple of scenes in the book which had me cussing Ms. Gray out. I couldn’t believe she did that to me, um, I mean the characters. I was really upset. To be honest I’m still holding out hope for one of the situations. I must be in the denial phase of grieving. (Yes, that’s how enthralling the book is).  If I believed in giving spoilers I’d tell you what the heck I’m talking about, but since I don’t you’ll have to read it for yourself. Which I totally recommend.

I can’t wait to lose more sleep while reading the next book of the series when it comes out.

Review: Seduced by Pain by Karpov Kinrade

The Constantine portion of Prah and Constantine Reviews turned me onto book one of Rose’s Story  (Read my review here).  I was hooked by book one and went on to buy the full boxed set of the series from Amazon.com.

My Review

As promised, Book two continued where one left off with a new major player. This individual made me think about the balance of good and evil and how most things or people aren’t one or the other, it’s all about the circumstances we find ourselves in. He actually had me rooting for him for a short while, but then I remembered myself.

I enjoyed the second book as much as I did the first. There were some scenes (sexual in nature) which surprised me. I’ll admit that there were times when I feared that my eyes would get stuck in my head from the excessive eye-rolling due to the drama of the novel which endeared it to me.

I’m looking forward to reading part three I have a feeling there’ll be a spectacular ending.

I give Seduced by Pain four out of five chocolate bars.

Prah and Constantine Review: Seduced by Innocence by Kimberly Kinrade

Prah and Constantine reviews are back for another month. Constantine chose Seduced by Innocence by Kimberly Kinrade and after reading the blurb and seeing the price (free), I agreed. Who knew that the first book would end up costing me more money? After reading my review here, head on over to CathrinaConstantine’s blog to see what she had to say about it.

My Review

A clash exists between powerful wolf shifters and witches. Within the mix are secrets, betrayal, and love. Oh my goodness I love a good paranormal romance.

The attraction between Rose and Derek was immediate and intense. I initially thought the book was going to be a sweet romance until certain words crept their way onto the page and made me gasp. Be warned, this book is sweet in a romantic sense, but it is hot.

Ms. Kinrade warns the reader that the book is not a stand alone novel and that it ends in a cliff hanger. I thought I could handle it and would be able to leave the series after the first book. My credit card bears witness that I couldn’t. Lucky for me Ms. Kinrade has put all three books in a nice affordable pack.

I give this book four out of five chocolate bars and I’m looking forward to reading the second book in the series.
