Covergasm Blog #Giveaway Hop

Herding Cats and Burning Soup has organized a wonderful blog hop from June 6-13. Yep. This one is ALL about the covers. The ones that just make you gasp and go..oh my, I NEED this book. Now!

Those that are truly...covergasm-worthy. Stop by each blog to check out their favorites! There will be a giveaway at each stop plus a grand prize giveaway of an Amazon Gift Card! Happy Hopping!

For my stop all you have to do is leave a comment to win the $5 Amazon Gift Card that I'm giving away.

My book cover is worthy of being exhibited in this hop. Look at it. Beautiful people, the ocean, scenic South Africa and my name on the cover. Sexy.

Blurb

Ghanaian nurse Aurora ‘Ora’ Aikins never expected to find the love of her life while on vacation in South Africa. Engaged to another and believing that love has no place in her life, she returns to Ghana, and puts duty and honor first.

Three years later, Dr. Jason Lartey still can’t get Ora out of his mind or his heart. After learning she never married, he takes a risk and moves to Ghana hoping to rekindle what they started. His sudden appearance in Ora’s Emergency Department sends sparks flying all over again.

They’re in the same country, working in the same hospital, and together but distance creeps between them. Can they make their destined love one for the ages?

  3. People or no people can work for me, but I'm not crazy about headless torsos or seeing the same Photoshopped poses over and over...

    1. I once bought a book with a guy leaning on a wall with his arms crossed. We couldn't see his head, but the tuxedo was fabulous. Thanks for stopping by.

    1. I think the quality of artwork may affect how much we like a cover.

  6. I'm not really too picky. It doesn't really matter if there are people or no people on the cover as long as the cover is elegantly done.

  11. If it's a romance or UF, then I prefer people, as that helps me to imagine the heroes. If it's any other genre, then it can be whatever suits the story best.

  12. People or no people on the cover well it depends on the book for me. Some times it works other times not so much. Thank you for the giveaway.

  13. Book covers are what initially gravitate me to a book and the one's I love the most I always buy a print copy.

  14. I think it depends on the story. For mysteries, for example, it think graphic covers suit very well. For romances, I go on both - but more traditional stories do ask for people on the cover. Illustrations may be a good fit for chick-lits. And the list goes on...
But there's no rule a good designer couldn't turn upside down by creating an unusual and unique cover :-)

    2. Hi Nana!
I've always been a great fan of covers, and this hop made me think a lot about it... ;-)
But the best thing of hops is still discovering new authors, new blogs (and seeing my TBR list growing like crazy...lol)
Thanks for being part of it!

  15. I like people on book covers, but only if they don't dominate the cover (if it's not the only thing on it except the title and author).

  18. I like people on the cover.give you and idea of what the character's look but there are time when thay will say the person in the book has like red hair and the one on the cover does not that it makes you think thay thay should have thought the cover threw better.

    1. I agree, Stacy. I love making author friends because they clarify stuff about their books. I asked a friend of mine why the person on the cover was blond instead of having red hair. She said she had no say in the cover. Sometimes there is no artistic control.

  20. For romances, I prefer people and photo type like yours versus cartoonish, drawn people. Your cover also includes the second thing I want, some clues to the story line or setting.

  23. I really don't have a preference as long as the cover is well done. I do have a problem when a bare chested man is put on a cover and he is not the focal point of the book.

  26. I loved this part of the book blurb a lot: "They’re in the same country, working in the same hospital, and together but distance creeps between them. Can they make their destined love one for the ages? " The book cover as well as the blurb is really intriguing. :)

It depends. If there's a lovely couple on the book cover, I love it. Otherwise, I prefer some natural scenery or something symbolic. So, you may say I prefer no people on the book cover more.

  27. It depends on the story. In general, I prefer people when I can't see their faces or no people on book covers. I am disappointed when the cover people don't look like I imagined the book's characters.

Thanks for taking part in the hop! Have a great weekend!
