Review: Silence Fallen (Mercy Thompson 10) by Patricia Briggs

In the #1 New York Times bestselling Mercy Thompson novels, the coyote shapeshifter has found her voice in the werewolf pack. But when Mercy's bond with the pack and her mate is broken, she'll learn what it truly means to be alone...

Attacked and abducted in her home territory, Mercy finds herself in the clutches of the most powerful vampire in the world, taken as a weapon to use against alpha werewolf Adam and the ruler of the Tri-Cities vampires. In coyote form, Mercy escapes only to find herself without money, without clothing, and alone in the heart of Europe...

Unable to contact Adam and the rest of the pack, Mercy has allies to find and enemies to fight, and she needs to figure out which is which. Ancient powers stir, and Mercy must be her agile best to avoid causing a war between vampires and werewolves, and between werewolves and werewolves. And in the heart of the ancient city of Prague, old ghosts rise...

My Review
I’m going to start with the end of the story because Ms. Briggs blew me away. I did not expect the surprise ending at all, but I was very happy about it. I might have to reread it again to see how I got blindsided, but I knew something was up at one point, I just couldn’t put my finger on it. Mercy and Adam- I can’t love their romance any more than I do. Their relationship isn’t perfect, but their love is. This is one of the best series I have ever read. The only thing that disappointed me about the book is that there isn’t another story for me to read right away. An amazing read.

Review: Fire Touched by Patricia Briggs

The Blurb
Mercy Thompson has been hailed as “a heroine who continues to grow and yet always remains true to herself.”* Now she’s back, and she’ll soon discover that when the fae stalk the human world, it’s the children who suffer...

Tensions between the fae and humans are coming to a head. And when coyote shapeshifter Mercy and her Alpha werewolf mate, Adam, are called upon to stop a rampaging troll, they find themselves with something that could be used to make the fae back down and forestall out-and-out war: a human child stolen long ago by the fae.

Defying the most powerful werewolf in the country, the humans, and the fae, Mercy, Adam, and their pack choose to protect the boy no matter what the cost. But who will protect them from a boy who is fire touched?

My Review

The books in this series keep getting better. I figure that’s because Mercy keeps getting tougher and smarter, and the love between her and Adam continues to grow. Of course I can’t forget all of the magnificent characters Ms. Briggs throws into Mercy’s path (both good, bad, and we’ll-see-which-side-he-or-she-falls-into).

I can’t believe I have to wait until next year to read another book in the series (Silence Fallen) which I have already preordered at full price because that’s how awesome Ms. Briggs books are.

I give this book five out of five bridge shaped chocolate bars (If I could give more I certainly would)

Book Review: Night Broken by Patricia Briggs #urbanfantasy

The Blurb – Night Broken
An unexpected phone call heralds a new challenge for Mercy. Her mate Adam’s ex-wife is in trouble, on the run from her new boyfriend. Adam isn’t the kind of man to turn away a person in need—and Mercy knows it. But with Christy holed up in Adam’s house, Mercy can’t shake the feeling that something about the situation isn’t right.

Soon, her suspicions are confirmed when she learns that Christy has the farthest thing from good intentions. She wants Adam back and she’s willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen, including turning Adam’s pack against Mercy.

Mercy isn’t about to step down without a fight, but there’s a more dangerous threat circling. Christy’s ex is more than a bad man—in fact, he may not be human at all. As the bodies start piling up, Mercy must put her personal troubles aside to face a creature with the power to tear her whole world apart.

My Review
Mercy is a better person than I’ll ever be. After dealing with Adam’s ex-wife, I would have given Mercy permission to stomp the woman into the ground. But Mercy kept her cool. Even when a seemingly indestructible creature was after her. Such an amazing character.\

The love between Mercy and Adam keeps growing. I absolutely adore their romance. I don’t care for the way Ms. Briggs propels me onto the cusp of a heart attack with all the drama. There isn't a book in the series where I don't ask, Will Mercy make it through this one? With Ms. Briggs killing people off that you wouldn’t expect, you never know.

I give this book five out of five volcano shaped chocolate bars.

Review: Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs

The Blurb
Being a mechanic is hard work. Mercy Thompson, for instance, just spent the last couple of months trying to evade the murderous queen of the local vampire seethe. And now the leader of the werewolf pack, who's maybe-more-than-just-a-friend, has asked for her help. A book of fae secrets has come to light and they're all about to find out how implacable - and dangerous - the fae can be.

OK, so maybe her troubles have nothing to do with the job. But she sure could use a holiday...

My Review
Just when I think Ms. Briggs can’t surprise me, she does it. This was an amazing story, full of twists, turns, and suspense. Will Mercy get out of this one without major damage? Will Adam save the day or will Mercy do it herself? Will Adam kick ass or have his handed to him? And the questions kept rolling in with answers I hadn't expected.

If I didn’t think Mercy and Adam belonged together before, this book would have cinched it for me. These two are the best couple ever and I love that they love each other so much and are so in sync, even though they drive each other nuts on occasion. I give a huge sigh to the wonderful romance they share.

Review: Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs #Urbanfantasy

The Blurb
By day, Mercy is a car mechanic in the sprawling Tri-Cities of Eastern Washington. By night, she explores her preternatural side. As a shapeshifter with some unique talents, Mercy has often found herself having to maintain a tenuous harmony between the human and the not so human. This time she may get more than she bargained for.

Marsilia, the local Vampire Queen, has learned that Mercy crossed her by slaying a member of her clan—and she's out for blood. But since Mercy is protected from direct reprisal by the werewolf pack (and her close relationship with its sexy Alpha), it won't be Mercy's blood Marsilia is after.

It'll be her friends'.

My Review
The series is back to amazing. I think I may like having vampires in the stories. They amp up the drama just a bit because they're so unpredictable. I’m not saying that fae, witches, ghosts, humans or werewolves are tame, but at least they have souls. Whereas vampires don’t care about anything. But, Stefan is a different breed of vampire altogether. I find myself rooting for him, but like Mercy always reminding myself that he is what he is.

The story was fast paced and had me staying up late at night to get more reading done. For those romance lovers out there, this book is definitely for you. Adam and Mercy… ahhhhh.

Review: Moon Called by Patricia Briggs #UrbanFantasy

I asked Anna at Herding Cats Burning Soup for a book recommendation. I’d originally gotten addicted to the Dragon Kin Series by G.A. Aiken through her, so I figured she’d be able to hook me up again. I can now say that I have a new book pimp. Thanks Anna!

The Blurb
Mercedes "Mercy" Thompson is a talented Volkswagen mechanic living in the Tri-Cities area of Washington. She also happens to be a walker, a magical being with the power to shift into a coyote at will. Mercy's next-door neighbor is a werewolf. Her former boss is a gremlin. And she's fixing a bus for a vampire. This is the world of Mercy Thompson, one that looks a lot like ours but is populated by those things that go bump in the night. And Mercy's connection to those things is about to get her into some serious hot water…

My Review
Usually when I start the first book of a paranormal series I expect to be bogged down by a lot of detail and history. Ms. Briggs included all of what I needed to understand the Mercy's ‘world’ but in a fast paced and most interesting way.

Mercy Thompson rocks. She keeps to herself, is intelligent, and yet knows how to get things done because she’s confident in who she is. I can’t wait until she gets to really know who she is as a Walker. After one hit I'm now addicted to a new series.
