My Review
This book took me by surprise on so many levels. The fact
that a hot, powerful, rich, Latin man would fall in love with a strong,
independent mixed raced woman in a well written novel was not one of the
shockers. Ms. Diamond surely knows how to weave an enticing romance. The story
was good, and even though there were points where I closed my eyes and shook my
head wanting to scream out no, I was overruled by the characters and their own
personal motivations.
Was there pain involved with Esteban and Sonia’s
arrangement? There sure was. If the characters hadn’t been tortured there wouldn’t
have been a book. I guess living a luxurious life takes some of the edge off.
But the way their emotions evolved while they were together was what impressed
me. It went a different direction than what I was expecting and that was a good
thing. Their resolution made me a very happy reader. Ms. Diamond likes to put
her characters through quite a bit of stress before they end up with their
happily-ever-after.
I give this book five out of five wine bottle shaped
chocolate bars.
