Review: Wickedly It Begins by Cathrina Constantine

The Blurb

One fateful night will change their lives forever.

Seeley is born a hunter. God’s warrior. She’s endowed with inexplicable gifts to slay creatures and demons threatening human’s. Alongside her guardian angel, Ezekiel, she will face unimaginable trials and tribulations.

Jack Chase was born an orphan. Kicked from foster home to foster home, he lands with a couple who worships Satan. He succumbs to their diabolical rituals, and learns he also has extraordinary talents. Wealthy, Asa Trebane, and leader of the Black Order of the Cult locates this teenager he’s heard much about. He takes Jack under his wing and into his home.

A mysterious pull leads Jack to Seeley. A pull neither of them can resist.

My Review
After meeting Seely as Jordan’s mother in Wickedly They Come and Wickedly They Dream, it was great to read about Seely’s not so humble beginnings as a warrior and how she met Jack Chase. The book was fast paced and exciting. The fight scenes were filled with energy. The snarkiness of the characters brought out the laughs.
The story was darker than I expected, but seeing how Jack grew up worshiping Satan, it was an morbidly fascinating aspect of his life. I enjoyed the way Jack’s story progressed and how he developed. The romance between Jack and Seely lightened the darkness of the book.

As a teenager who hangs out with angels, Seely can only be described as powerful. This was an aspect that I didn’t completely understand in the first two books because they were about Jordan. Seely’s strength and involvement in the war between heaven and hell became clear . There were times when she was tested and I didn’t know if she would stay true to herself or not. Intriguing.

Ms. Constantine has crafted a fantastic tale which possessed a slight twist on the classic good versus evil. Sometimes you never know which category a person really falls into.

I give this book five out of five sword shaped chocolate bars.

I purchased my copy from AmazonUK
