Review: Breaking the Mating Bond (Wiccan Haus #17) by Dominique Eastwick

 The Blurb
What if the Fates got it wrong?

It’s been seven years since the death of three of Janessa Rowan’s cousins at the hands of mercenary assassins. The time has come for the remaining coven to come together and begin healing. But Janessa is in need of more. Her mate is in love with another, and she will do everything in her power to give him the freedom to allow him to be happy.

Coming to an island of witches is not Silvano’s idea of a good time, but, as a Dhampir, he has no choice but to follow his mate if he wants to feed. But what happens when what you thought you wanted starts to lose its shine and what you have seems to be moving out of your grasp. Can Silvano fight old prejudices to save his true love?

Prepare yourselves—the Rowan Coven is assembling. Welcome back to the Wiccan Haus.

My Review
I can’t get over the fact that I chose the 17th book in a series to read when I’ve never read any of the previous ones. I was hooked by the blurb and I knew they were stand-alone books so I figured I wouldn’t get lost.

The story was filled with a depth of emotion that I didn’t expect. Janessa loved her mate so much that she was willing to give up the life she knew so that he could be happy. She went above and beyond her duty as a mate even though the odds were stacked against her.

There was one point in the book where I thought the situation would go in a certain direction, but the author threw me a curve ball. The twist made sense in the end even though it caused me to suffer through a little bit of anxiety.

I’m going to have to check out the other books in the series. Maybe starting from #1 this time because this set of paranormal books is not to be missed.

I give this book five out of five sword shaped chocolate bars.

I purchased this book from Amazon.

  1. Sometimes you just have to start somewhere to find out a series potential. Glad you have found yet another amazing book to enjoy. But damn girl your TBR is growing!

    1. Lol. You are so right about my TBR list, Sheena-kay. I will probably die with some kind of microchip e-reader at full throttle.

  2. Book #17? LOL. I don't know that I could commit to a series that long. It sounds incredibly involved but awesome too.

    1. The series is written by different authors, but they are all linked.
