Writing can be difficult.
Technically I don’t
find the writing aspect of being an author to be the hard part. It’s the dag on
second, third and fourth drafts, and the editing process that I find difficult.
When I’m writing the ideas seem to flow out of my fingers
onto the keyboard. Sometimes I don’t want to stop writing, while other days,
well, I don’t want to start.
To be honest, making corrections to my work is what adds a
few more pounds. In order to procrastinate the torture of the duty, I tend to
eat, and eat, and eat some more. I really need to find a new way of dealing
with the stress editing brings before three hundred pounds creeps up on me one
day.
Of course I love the end result of the effort I put into a
piece, but the process is so much work
that while I’m going through it I wonder why I don’t just read books instead of
writing them.
What about you? Is writing a pure pleasure for you?
Don't think writing has ever been a pure pleasure for me, LOL. (Drawing definitely isn't a pure pleasure, either.) Anything creative seems to have its fair share of angst, at least in my experience!
ReplyDeleteSo true, Heather. And yet its those things we can't seem to stay away from.
DeleteI can so identify with the editing blues. I really despise any form of editing except maybe the last read through once it's mostly polished. Writing is fun most of the time except when I hit a snag in the story. Of course, if I had those delectable treats on hand every time I edited, it would be much more fun!
ReplyDeleteLol, Kathy. I'm glad I'm not alone.
DeleteLOL some days I feel that way about the blog. I love it. It flows some days. Some days not so much. Dealing with hosting events makes me binge snack. So stressful sometimes. Worth it but man I need to reach for the grapes and not the chocolates! lol
ReplyDeleteWhat's the fun in reaching for the healthy snacks? Chocolate all the way.
