Review: The Santa Drag by Liv Rancourt #ChristmasRomance

The Blurb

Things aren't always what they seem, and this shopping mall Santa has a secret that only true love can reveal.

Mackenzie's an out-of-work actress who takes a job as a shopping mall Santa to pay the rent. She fools everyone with her Santa drag, until the day Joe McBride walks into the mall. Joseph Timothy McBride - the real-life, got a soap opera gig and you saw him in Scream II actor. The only guy she ever really loved. Can Mack stay in character, or is it time to strip off the red coat and peel off the beard for good?

The Santa Drag is a 6,000 word short story with a Santa who's more than he seems to be, stressed out parents in the mall, and one very handsome actor.

My Review
Funny, romantic and short. Of course it’s a short story, but I would have loved to see this as at least a novella. I’ll consider it a romantic Christmas treat. More like a single Hershey’s kiss than a bar. And yet still so delicious.

I give this short story five out of five Hershey’s Kisses.

I got my copy from Amazon for 99 cents

  1. You know, your observation - that it could have been a novella at least - reflects one of the consistent themes in the reviews so far. It's a fair comment, and one I'll certainly take into account when I mess around with the sequel. I have another story featuring Mack & Joe that takes place after she moves to L.A. These short stories appeared in anthologies for a small ebook publisher that went out of business. I got the rights back, and since I like the characters, I decided to put them out there on my own. I'll have to give The Ring Toss a careful look before publishing, though, to see if it really wants to be a novella, too.

I hope this doesn't come off as defensive at all. Mainly I want to say, "huh, you might be on to something". I really appreciate you reading Santa Drag & giving it a review, Nana. Thanks so much!

    1. You don't sound defensive at all. I'm glad you're taking a look at the Ring Toss (interesting title). My vote is for novella.

  2. I have Santa Drag on my Kindle. I guess it's time to read it!!!

I love reading your comments.
