Guestpost: @AnetaCruz Loves to Scare Us #NewRelease #Paranormal #99cents

Today I'm welcoming my fabulous writing sister Aneta Cruz to the blog to talk about her latest release. Great news. Her book is on sale for $0.99 cents.

I would like to thank the beautiful and always smiling Nana for allowing me to creep into her romantic love shack/blog with my monsters.

The Others
I think there comes a time in our lives when we have to face our monsters, don’t you? The problem for me is that I don’t like doing that because I don’t want to scare them away. I want them to stay for as long as possible. You see, I grew up on stories of scary creatures lurking in the darkness and I’ve always been fascinated by their presence. To me, they were mysterious, the knowers of something otherworldly regular humans had no clue about and therefore feared. I’ve always wanted to explore them and see what they see. There’s always been that little nagging voice inside me that told me to look deeper and question why do we view these creatures as monstrous?

I’ve figured out that they are misunderstood, used as a scapegoat in people’s affairs, taboos, and things that are frowned upon by the conventions of our society. And when I mulled these ideas over, The Guardian was born, with its main character, Dr. Stein, forged from the most fiery neuron connections inside my brain. He became my eyes, my desires and disappointments when searching for that which couldn’t be seen, only felt. His character helped me discover the hidden truths of my soul, my beliefs and disbeliefs, my fears and my humility, my otherness.

I’ve realized one thing: All that we see is not all there is.
My soft spot for monsters and monstrosity grows by day. I embrace these beings, for they teach humans invaluable lessons and they test their qualities until they reveal what humanity really is at its very core.

I’ve had the most haunting experiences when writing The Guardian and I think it shows through the story and the bonds of the characters in it. Please, cast aside everything you knew up until now about monsters and go on an adventure with Dr. Stein, who will reveal something extraordinary. Something you already know, but perhaps don’t realize, until you are standing on the threshold of death.

Blurb:

Dr. Josef Stein was trained as a man of science and rationality, but after a tragic experience, he believes that there is something within—or even without—the human body science cannot explain. And Stein would do anything to witness it! When his patients begin seeing a ghost, and a woman suspected of killing her child even accuses this spirit of the crime, Stein takes it upon himself to investigate. Unexpectedly, evidence of a supernatural phenomenon starts to mount. The good doctor’s quest to see is ignited with fervor. He thinks he is on the verge of uncovering the veracity of a thousand-year-old myth when his research gets interrupted by the Gestapo. Stein turns to his colleagues and friends for help, but they begin to suspect that the doctor’s determination may have unhinged his mind. Has Stein, after years of treating the crazy, gone mad himself?

  1. Great post, Aneta :) I have a soft spot for monsters, too :) It reminds me of the Eminem/Rihanna song "I'm friends with the monster under my bed." Better friends than enemies, right?

    1. Debbie, thanks for stopping by. And that's right, better friends than enemies with our monsters. Who says they can't be cuddly and squshy...in a sort of blood-curdling way? :)
