Review of Love Remains by Zrinka Jelic

The Blurb
Olivia Owen, a busy, single, high-functioning, corporate executive officer, is not afraid to die a spinster for the sake of her career. But in an alternate reality world, bridged by the angel of her Down’s syndrome sister, she meets Tom Medar, a dedicated, Croatian defense attorney who dreams of the right woman, but never has time to find her. Together they foil an adulterous murder plot while discovering there’s room for love and family in their busy lives—but not before they are separated again.

When they awaken from their alternate world, will they be able to cross countries to find each other again?

My Review

Ms. Jelic has written a fascinating love story set in an alternate time from the one the heroine started in. The novel made me think of the show Quantum Leap, but with a lot more heart (and sex).

Olivia starts out as a cold promiscuous woman and transitions into a soft caring mother who ends up loving her alternate life more than the empty one she lives in her reality. Tom was the man of any woman’s dreams and I could see how Olivia fell in love with him.

The angel and Olivia’s sister bring an interesting dynamic to the story which I found chilling, to be honest. In the end Ms. Jelic threw me for a loop which I never expected even though I kept trying to figure out what the heck was going on with the alternate reality.

Ms. Jelic has done a great job telling a love story with mystery, culture, and time travel.

I give this book four out of five chocolate bars.

  5. It sounds like there are a lot of twists and turns in this one, but with a solid romance to hold it all together. Great review! :-)
