Review: Things That Go Bump For the Holidays

Blurb
A collection of paranormal short stories for the holidays by ten authors from Black Opal Books.

Want to raise your spirits during the holidays season? Maybe dash through the snow in a heart pounding adventure? Then you don't want to miss this winter collection from ten spine-tingling, heart pounding contributors.

My Review
Call me a wimp but I was kind of afraid to start reading this book. Look at the cover, it says creepy. After overcoming my fear and reading the first story, I couldn’t stop until the very last one. I think I finished it in record time. Ten authors have been brought together to create a fantastic book of short stories.

There are different types of tales, all paranormal in nature, under one cover. Even though all of the short stories were complete, I could have read more about each one.  I can’t even tell you which one was my favorite because they all had aspects I really enjoyed. Ghosts, cheating bastard boyfriends, kick ass women, soul mates, nearly dead people, lovely gifts shared, scary creatures, soul mate romance, and powers, lots of powers.

I highly recommend that you add this to your TBR pile. It will take Christmas in a whole new direction.

I give this book five out of five ghost shaped (let your imagination run wild) chocolate bars.

I purchased this book from Amazon.com.

Two awesome anthologies coming December 14th by Black Opal Books

I’ll admit that I’m not the most Christmassy person in the world. I think it all started to go downhill when the Santa myth was busted wide open. Black Opal Books has two anthologies coming out on December 14th to help me boost my Christmas spirit.

Lots of fantastic authors can be found in two books. If you like the creepy and paranormal when you read, then check out Things That Go Bump In the Night. I’ve added a few blurbs to whet your appetite.

Wrapped in Shadows by Jami Gray
The magic of the holidays can be hell…
Celebrations abound during the holidays, but this Christmas an engagement celebration goes horrifically wrong. What appears to be a simple murder/suicide hides a vicious surprise. The type of gift Raine and Gavin, elite member of the Kyn, didn’t want humans to unwrap, because revealing the monsters in the shadows isn’t the way to spread holiday cheer.

Making Spirits Bright by Debbie Christiana:
Spookie Millane is a loner. Her only companions—the nearly departed—souls who seek her out before they die for help with one last request. But on a cold December day, a startling visit from the almost dead may change her life forever.

An Unexpected Blessing by Bonnie Vaughan:
Why should she help a hungry stranger? She didn't even want to celebrat the holidays now that her mother was gone.

A Touch of Winter contains stories of the non-paranormal variety.

Bittersweet Blessings by Cathrina Constantine: The formidable Wisconsin winter of 1892 stifles Christmas spirit and the family's anticipation of a new baby. Life and death weighs in the balance during this bittersweet holiday.

Home for Christmas by Shannon Kennedy
Stewart Falls, Washington is where Nikkie Tiernan longs to go. She's tired of being bounced around her dad's family since he's remarried and her mom is still oversear with the U.S. Army. All Nikki has to do is buy a bus ticket--or so she thinks. But when a mysterious stranger claims the seat next to her, Nikki begins to fear her adventure may not go as planned.

Three Men by E.A. Aymar
It's Christmas Eve in Baltimore and a contract killer nicknamed Switch has a job to do: before the night is over, she is going to kill a man. But tonight's job takes an unexpected turn, and forces Switch to confront something she never has--can she continue this life?
Unfortunately, the answer to that question is taken out of her hands...

Christmas Lovin’ by Nana Prah
Rantha has been in love with Craig since college, but he only sees her as a friend. In order to not risk losing their close friendship, she adores him only in her heart, until he invites her to his company’s legendary Christmas party as his fake fiancĂ© to help him get promoted. Will their play kisses under the mistletoe turn into something real?

Both will be out on December 14, 2013, so keep a look out. But don’t worry, I’ll remind you.
