Review: The Viking Wants Forever by Koko Brown

The Blurb
A Love Frozen In Time…
Reese Johnson yearns for a life other than the world of drudgery she’s settled for as the manager of a comic book store. What’s that they say? Be careful what you wish for? Well that’s a motto Reese should have tattooed across her forehead. Because Loki, the Norse god of mischief, has just the remedy for the boring life of this woman who denounces his existence.

His recipe for disaster?
Take a 30 year-old woman and send her back in time as a pawn for revenge. Couple her with Eirik Sigurdsson, a Viking Warlord, too arrogant and baggage-laden to be of any use for anything, but battle and bed. Mix thoroughly, folding in a heavy dose of pride, a tyrannical king, and a sympathetic goddess. Bake at high until a white-hot love is unleashed and then forever frozen in time.

My Review
When it comes to time travel, you never know how its going to end up. I absolutely loved how the book ended (I won’t spoil it for you). A modern African American woman going back to Viking times was a risky direction to take the story. I’m here to attest that it worked out perfectly. Reese did some good things for herself, Eirik, and his people when she was thrown back in time. I’m talking clap worthy actions.

The chemistry between Eirik and Reese was incredible. Sweet with a lot of erotic. Ms. Brown certainly likes to keep a reader on their toes about the characters actions throughout the story because there were quite a few times that I wanted to have a chat with both Reese and Eirik to help them make the right decisions.

I give this book five out of five ship shaped chocolate bars.

Review: Rumpeled: a Cindermama Story (A Cindermama Story #2) by Ines Johnson

The Blurb

Enter a world were single mothers get a second chance at happily ever after with Book Two in the Cindermama Series!

In this new spin on an old fairytale, Guy Rumpel’s golden touch could put a wrinkle in Midori Miller’s designs.

Former model, Midori Miller, left the fashion world in disgrace and now lives quietly as a small town dressmaker and single mom. When her talented daughter catches the ear of a New York record producer, the last thing Midori wants is to return to the harsh glare of the spotlight. Caught between the producer’s charms, her daughter’s dreams, and her own new chance at success, Midori isn’t sure she can design the right path for herself or her family, especially when the producer makes a play for her heart.

After a string of flops, producer Guy Rumpel believes he’s lost his golden touch. He needs to turn his career around with a hit record, and the young songbird from his hometown just may be the key. But when his family’s gift for finding their one true love shines its light on Midori, he’ll have to convince her to make the deal of a lifetime.

Rumpeled is the second book in Ines Johnson’s bestselling Cindermama series. If you love contemporary romance with a touch of magic then this series is for you. Buy Rumpeled: a Cindermama Story and bring this modern fairytale into your world today!

My Review
I want to clap for Ms. Johnson. This is the second book I have read from her and I’m in love with her writing style. Funny, touching, romantic, and realistic (for a paranormal- fairy tale). I could really relate to the characters. She makes the concept of happily-ever-after seem possible and that’s always a good thing when it comes to romance.

Guy isn’t your typical romance hero, and my mouth gaped open when he was described by one of the other characters. The description flowed with the story line and in the end it made things even clearer about him. Midori is an amazing character. She’s strong, a great mother (her daughter is fantastic in her own right), and a talented fashion designer who needs to get her big break. A wonderful heroine all around.

I have already bought the third book in the series and am looking forward to reading it, even though there is a conflict in there that I’m not sure how Ms. Johnson will resolve it. Intriguing.

I give this book five out of five scissor shaped chocolate bars.

Review: More Than a Mistress (Latin Men Book 5) by Delaney Diamond

The Blurb
Will their arrangement ever be enough?

Relationships are not a priority for restaurateur Esteban Galiano, and when he sees Sonia Kennedy at a party, he plans to make her a conquest in a long line of many. But she rebuffs his advances and forces him to adjust—determined to meet the challenge and do whatever he must to make her his.

All her life, Sonia’s beauty has caused unnecessary problems, and right now she needs a job, not a suitor. When Esteban makes an indecent proposal, her first instinct is to turn him down. But soon she’s rethinking her response. Maybe it’s time for her to use what she’s got, to get what she wants.

My Review
This book took me by surprise on so many levels. The fact that a hot, powerful, rich, Latin man would fall in love with a strong, independent mixed raced woman in a well written novel was not one of the shockers. Ms. Diamond surely knows how to weave an enticing romance. The story was good, and even though there were points where I closed my eyes and shook my head wanting to scream out no, I was overruled by the characters and their own personal motivations.

Was there pain involved with Esteban and Sonia’s arrangement? There sure was. If the characters hadn’t been tortured there wouldn’t have been a book. I guess living a luxurious life takes some of the edge off. But the way their emotions evolved while they were together was what impressed me. It went a different direction than what I was expecting and that was a good thing. Their resolution made me a very happy reader. Ms. Diamond likes to put her characters through quite a bit of stress before they end up with their happily-ever-after.

I give this book five out of five wine bottle shaped chocolate bars.

Review: The Wrong Man by Delaney Diamond #InterracialRomance

The Blurb
They have nothing in common. So why can’t they stay away from each other?

Construction foreman Tomas Molina has no desire to settle down. He enjoys the single life too much, with all the choices of women available to him. But when ad executive Talia Jackson becomes single again, they start an affair that has him questioning his beliefs about relationships. And the next thing he knows, he’s the one demanding exclusivity.

Talia Jackson has always done what’s right. Gone to the right schools, worn the right clothes, and married the right man. Seeking a boost when her marriage ends in divorce, she finds comfort in the arms of Tomas Molina, a man who makes her feel alive in a way she never has before. Then an unexpected result of their affair forces her to make a tough decision—stay in the world she’s known all her life, or make a future with the man she’s grown to love.

My Review
This book was amazing. It moved at a pace that got me into the lives of both Tomas and Talia without bogging me down with too much back story. Although their attraction wasn’t instantaneous, having known each other for years before the start of the book, when it did spark it was an inferno.

Tomas’ confidence could’ve been a turn off if it didn’t match Talia’s so well. Both of them set each other off in a teasing manner from the beginning of the book.  I loved the concept of a confirmed bachelor having his head turned around unexpectedly by the woman meant for him. Only neither of them know they are meant to be together.

Ms. Diamond threw in a couple of curve balls to the relationship that had me raising my eyebrows in interest.  Not including the “unexpected result of their affair.”

I give this book five out of five chocolate bars.
